Tour Description
Exploring the Great Barrier Reef in comfort and style is easy with Calypso on custom designed vessels that travel daily from Port Douglas to Opal and Agincourt Reefs.
Snorkelling and diving the Great Barrier Reef is an adventure. Exploring the coral gardens in search for weird and wonderful marine creatures will keep you busy for hours. Three sites are visited in one day, providing an insight into this large, unique and extraordinary living organism that is the Great Barrier Reef.
Made up of four separate reefs that face out to the South Pacific Ocean, Agincourt Reef is regarded as one of the most significant sites of this natural wonder. Explore rich, diverse coral gardens that help form these protective ocean walls, filled with hard and soft corals as well as the reef’s most iconic species such as sharks, stingrays, turtles, groupers and cods, maori wrasse and parrotfish. During Whale Season (June to September) you may be lucky enough to see Humpback or Minke Whales frolicking in the warm waters of the reef.
Snorkelling is included in the cost of your day trip, but if you wish to add a little more adventure, consider an add-on Scuba dive. While everyone can snorkel, those who would like to explore the reef from a fishes perspective can do so with no experience of diving necessary with an INTRODUCTORY DIVE. For those who have a love for exploring the depths of the oceans, Calypso offers CERTIFIED DIVING (certification cards are required) and up to three dives can be completed each day.
The Great Barrier Reef is a truly amazing spectacle and to get the best possible experience, you need to be in the hands of experts, people who know the reef like their own backyard. If you want a personal reef experience then blissfully Calypso will provide it.
Calypso offers family cruises, reef tours, and dive trips to the Great Barrier Reef for snorkelling and scuba diving. Our reef trip is suitable for all ages and provides a unique and personalised experience for all guests.
Departing daily from the Marina Mirage, Port Douglas, our experienced crew will take you to the World Heritage Great Barrier Reef Marine Park in our fast, stable and comfortable vessel.
6:50 - 8:20am - Guests are collected from their accommodation.
8:15am - Guests who are making their own way are to check in at the Calypso Shop at Crystalbrook Marina.
Once guests board the vessel, they are asked to remove their shoes (and place them either in an allocated shoe container on board or in their own bags) and are fitted with a mask, snorkel and fins. These are kept with the guests for the day.
8:45am - Vessels depart the marina. Guests are welcomed on board, an outline of the day announced and safety briefing conducted by the crew.
10:15am - Arrive at first reef site. Divers will be briefed while travelling to the reef. Once moored, divers are ready to go while all other guests are joined together for a snorkel briefing. Morning tea is served before moving to our second reef site.
11:55am - Second reef site. Snorkelling and diving available. Lunch is served and an interpretive reef talk is conducted by one of the crew. Guests can join in on a guided snorkel tour.
1:40pm - Third and last reef site for the day. Snorkelling and diving available. Afternoon tea is served.
2:45pm - Vessels depart outer Great Barrier Reef.
4:15pm - Arrive back at Crystalbrook Marina.
